Guild Wars Guide Thoughts
I was thinking about writing a full length guild wars guide. I am just curious of what players would like to see in this guide.
Please list any tips, hints, tricks, that you would like to see in this guide.
Ideas I have
*Gold Guide - How to make 100k in 2 Hours
*Mission Guide- Builds and strategy on how to beat every mission in the game
*Speed Clear Guide- Written guide on how to do some of the toughest speed clears
*Title hunters Guide- How to max some of the hardest titles in the least amount of time possible.
*Guild Startup Guide- How to start up and successfully run a guild
*In Depth Guide of Elite Missions/Areas
*In depth Powertrading Guide

Unless you maintain your guide well, it will quickly become irrelevant. Large community + balance updates = optimal approaches change fast.

Many of these guides have been done before. The guild start up one could be useful for say GW2 and possibly GW1. There have been plenty of guilds that have tried and failed. So a guide on that would be useful to some people.
As Martin points out, the SF tips would be irrelevant after the next update. But you could post a guide about using SF and the such AFTER the update, to try to help players adjust to it.

Was kinda thinking it would be a copy of Wiki. But I think guides on how to get gold, farming locations worth doing (kept updated) and your ideas of guild startups and title hunting guides would be worthwhile. I'd contribute in any way I can.

It's a good gesture but people have the wiki for all their needs.

The wiki's don't go in-depth into farming. I learned Necro 55 farming from Fuzzy Taco's guide in the Farming forum, not the build page on PvX Wiki. PvX Wiki generally has a synopsis and a build and I need a bit more than that. Sometimes the guide's writer will provide insight into a particular task that you never thought of yourself. If any of the wiki's had in-depth guides I'd be happy to read them.

All the ideas you have listed are already online. Writing a guide that reflects the same ideas as the ones already listed is somewhat irrelevant and a waste of time.
This is enough for a guide:
http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
To be rich, it takes basic knowledge of economics theory, which you all learn in high school. It isn't that hard to apply those theories into a virtual game.

To OP: I can't say any guide regardless of usefulness would be chosen above the mighty wikis but if you're serious about working on one, heres my honest opinion.
Choose something you either know well, or really want to learn about. Choose something you feel passionate about. If you don't the guide will be mediocre. If you have a passion for your subject, it will be the best guide you're capable of writing.

Since wiki already exists, why not expand on it?
Farming keeps being brought up in this thread, so how about starting up an in-depth farming guide on the wiki, on that is indexed by commodity, item, location, or class? That way, people can look for something specific, look for help on a certain area, or read up on common strategies of certain classes for general farm use?
Likewise, you could have advise sections for Powertrading and Guild Management to give wiki-browsers some tips on these areas, which fall into the lines of economics and personal relations, but are still relevant to the game.

You have nevenr made bigger change to wiki, eh? You will have to fight people who want to help you but post wrong info, you will have to fight people who have their idea how something is done and peope who have idea of how something is not done, and people who have agendas.
There is no worse foe than someone who comes to guide article and instead of being able to say self-affriming, reassuring "yep, experts do it just like i do, i rock" he gets upset because his tactics is described as worst ...

wiki, at least the official one, is not a place for subjective view and builds. there are some overviews and general walkthroughs, sometimes suggested skills and builds that might be useful, but no specific builds with in-depth descriptions. they sometimes show up on discussion pages, it's still rare though.
other thing is that if i were going to spend big amount of time on doing something and i could/wished to do it from the very beginning, i'd wanted to gain full credit for it rather than helping an existing wiki where my ideas and thoughts could get edited by any idiot.

The latter term in that sum is something we currently dream of.
The former helps in an optimal approach being settled on fairly quickly.
Regardless though, a guide would need to be well maintained.

Is that the same wiki that lists Contagion pressure or BiP for general PvE play-styles for the Necromancer?
Is this the same wiki that implies Nuking is the strongest option for an ele in PvE?
The wikis are where I look to check the stats of a skill or item or the setup of an area. I do not go there to learn how to beat anything. Doing so would simply be counter-productive.

I dunno. How hard would it be to change 2-3 skills every 4 months?
Zzzzing.

It you keep it up-to-date and well maintained then why not? Wiki doesn't stop me making Even guides, and the fact each guide gets thousands of views means not everyone wants to troll wiki for their info.
Take it from me... presentation and layout of the guide is most important. I know from experience.

Poeple who want ideas on what to put in a guide shouldn't be thinking about writing a guide.

I think most of your points are already covered in the (PvX) Wiki, king swift, and in the farming forum of Guru.
You could gather all that stuff, and make it easier accessible, but i doubt you are going to find anything 'new'.
As for me, I know my way around all these sources of information, so I have no need of a compendium. Maybe it is helpful for new players, to be spoonfed all the information that other people took 4 years to gather and learn. In the end, it'll all come down if you have the energy to maintain the guide.

The powertrading, and guild startup guides would be good. Gold/SC guide have the problem of one update making it redundant. As for the rest, they have been done elsewhere (for some notably on wiki).
I would give thumbs up for the first two though. would be an interesting read
